6 Lessons from Musa and Firaun

  1. Turn to Allah in Duaa
When Allah said to Musa “Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.” Musa supplicated to Allah, “My Lord, expand for me my breast [with assurance], and ease for me my task and untie the knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech. (Taha 24-28)
  2. Choose your company well
Musa asked Allah to strengthen him with his brother, ‘And appoint for me a minister from my family – Aaron, my brother. Increase through him my strength, and let him share my task, that we may exalt You much and remember You much. (Taha 29-34)
  3. Guard your tongue
Even in dealing with a tyrant, Allah said to Musa, ‘And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear (Allah).” (Taha 44)
  4. Trust in Allah
When Musa feared Firauns rebellion, Allah assured him, “Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see.” (Taha 35)
  5. Change before it’s too late
When drowning overtook Firaun, he said, “I believe that there is no deity except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of the Muslims.” (Yunus 90) But, it was too late, Allah used Firaun as sign to those who transgress
  6. Flee from sin and Allah will grant you better
“And We took the Children of Israel across the sea.” (Yunus 90) We had settled the Children of Israel in a pleasant abode and provided them with good things.” (Yunus 93)
