5 Traits of the Jinn

  1. They have no power over sincere, righteous Muslims
Indeed, over My [believing] servants there is for you no authority. And sufficient is your Lord as Disposer of affairs. (Isra: 65)
  2. Among the Jinn are good and evil
And among us are the righteous, and among us are (others) not so; we were (of) divided ways. (Jinn: 11)
  3. They are created from a smokeless flame
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Angels were created from light, jinns were created from a smokeless flame of fire.” (Muslim)
  4. They dwell in impure places
These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: “I seek refuge in Allah from male and female devils.” (Abu Dawud)
  5. They disperse when darkness spreads
Gather your children when darkness spreads, or in the evening for the jinn are abroad and seize them. (Abu Dawud)
