5 Lessons from the Battle of Badr

  1. There is strength in unity not numbers
313 ill-equipped men defeated an army of 1000
“How many a small company has overcome a large company by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the patient.” (2:249)
  2. When the going gets tough, the tough pray
When Muhammad ﷺ caught a glimpse of the enemy, he turned to Allah in duaa“O Allah, if this small band of Muslims is destroyed. Thou will not be worshipped on this earth.” (Muslim)
  3. Allah will provide for you from where you do not expect
Allah strengthened the Muslims with Angels to fight in their cause
“Remember when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, “Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another.” (8:9)
  4. Your success is only by Allah
Hold firm onto the rope of Allah, success is only by Him
“And Allah made it not except as a sign of good tidings for you and to reassure your hearts thereby. And victory is not except from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. (3:126)
  5. Remember Allah during victory and defeat
Even during victory, Allah reminds us to be grateful and remain humble
And already had Allah given you victory at Badr while you were few in number. Then fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful. (3:123)
