4 Lessons from the Life of Maryam (AS)

1. Remember Allah in public and private
When Jibril appeared to her in the form of a perfect man, while she was in a place secluded by herself with a partition between her and her people, she said to him
“Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah.” (19:18)

2. Do not underestimate Allah’s ability
Maryam said, “How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?” Allah responded ‘It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. (19:19)

3. Hasten towards silence
When they slandered and falsely accusing her of a horrendous act, Maryam (AS) remained silent
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “He who believes in Allah and the Last Day must either speak good or remain silent.” (Muslim)

4. Strive for perfection through modesty and conviction
The Prophet ﷺ said, “Many men reached perfection but none among the women reached perfection except Mary, the daughter of ‘ `Imran. (Bukhari)
