3 Facts on our Mother Sawdah Bint Zama’a

1. She was kind hearted

“..He would draw lots as to which of his wives would accompany him. He used to fix for each of them a day and a night. But Sauda gave up her (turn) day and night to `Aisha, the wife of the Prophet in order to seek the pleasure of Allah’s Messenger ﷺ.” (Bukhari)

2. She feared the Messenger was going to divorce her

She said: ‘Do not divorce me, but keep me and give my day to ‘Aishah.’ So he ﷺ did so, and the following was revealed: ‘Then there is no sin on them both if they make terms of peace between themselves, and making peace is better.’ (4:128) (Tirmidhi)

3. She had a deep love and friendship with ‘Aishah

‘A’ishah reported: Never did I find any woman more loving to me than Sauda bint Zam’a. I wished I could be exactly like her who was passionate. (Muslim)
